WATCH: Florida RB runs 74 yards, fumbles at goal line in 14-point swing for Vols
Malik Davis had a sure-fire touchdown, but the ball was stripped before he crossed the goal line.
The Tennessee-Florida game has been littered with mistakes, but one of the more costly ones came in the fourth quarter when Gators freshman running back Malik Davis took a hand-off 74 yards for what looked like a touchdown. However, Tennessee defenders chased down Davis, and refusing to give up on the play, knocked the ball out of his hands just before he crossed the goal line. The ball shot out of the back of the end zone and was ruled a touchback for the Vols.
Here's a video of the effort play by Tennessee's defense ...
Five plays later, Tennessee running back John Kelly ran 34 yards for a score that made the game 13-10. Had Davis not fumbled the ball, Florida would have led 20-3. The turnover represented a 14-point swing in favor of Tennessee.
