There's a thin line between brilliance and stupidity, and Miami was straddling it on Saturday.
Miami trailed Georgia Tech 14-13 at halftime and had to kick off to start the third quarter. Well, Mark Richt decided to go for an onside kick to catch Tech by surprise, and it blew up in his face.

The first problem here is that the onside kick didn't go 10 yards, and for Miami to recover it legally, it's required to go at least that far. So Miami players didn't want to touch the ball before it went that far, but that led to another problem.
Just because Miami can't touch the ball doesn't mean Georgia Tech isn't allowed to. So while Miami players were avoiding the ball, Tech's Lamont Simmons scooped it up and took it to the house.
This is what coaches call one of those teachable moments.
