So you're West Virginia and you're coming off a season in which your defense allowed 33.3 points per game, and ranked 97th in the country with a defensive pass efficiency of 140.8. You're also opening the 2014 season with a game against Alabama.

And you'll be doing this without your starting cornerback, Ishmael "Ickey" Banks.

Dana Holgorsen announced Monday that Banks has been suspended for the first three games of the season, which means he'll miss the Alabama game as well as the Towson game and a road trip to Maryland. Holgorsen said the suspension was an academic issue and that Banks was reinstated after an NCAA review.

Banks finished the 2013 season with 32 tackles and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.
