The Kalen DeBoer at Alabama got off to a rousing start with a lopsided victory in Week 1 over Western Kentucky. Now the Crimson Tide are looking to make it 2-0 when they welcome USF to Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday night.
Alabama scorched Western Kentucky for a 63-0 win in the opener. The Crimson Tide offense had no problem throwing the ball, and Jalen Milroe got his Heisman Trophy campaign off to a strong start. He threw for 200 yards and three touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, he also punched in two touchdowns on the ground.
While the offense was nearly unstoppable, the defense also outclassed the Hilltoppers as they managed just 145 yards of total offense.
USF rolled over Bethune-Cookman, 48-3, in its Week 1 victory. Byrum Brown and Kelley Joiner were among the main playmakers for South Florida as the former rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown, and the latter rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns.
The interesting wrinkle in this matchup is the fact that the Bulls gave the Tide everything they could handle in Tampa last season. Alabama had to grind out a 17-3 win, but Milroe didn't play in that game, and DeBoer has brought a highly explosive offense to the program.
