The Penn State Nittany Lions will look to take advantage of home field for the first time this season when they host the Bowling Green State Falcons on Saturday at Beaver Stadium. Both teams enter this matchup after big wins in Week 1.
Penn State is riding high after it opened its season with a decisive road win against West Virginia. The Nittany Lions overpowered the Mountaineers, 34-12, last week. The contest was all but wrapped up by the end of the third quarter, with the Nittany Lions holding a 21-point advantage.
Penn State's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but quarterback Drew Allar was key to the charge by throwing for 216 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 attempts. Star running back Nicholas Singleton rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown on just 13 carries.
Penn State finished with 7.6 yards per play. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now averaged 6.1 yards per play in four consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Bowling Green took care of business with ease in its home opener, soaring past Fordham for a 41-17 win. The Falcons got off to a hot start when Justin Pegues returned the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown. Running back Terion Stewart was also brilliant, rushing for 161 yards and three touchdowns on just 14 carries, including a 73-yard score in the fourth quarter.
