Cottrell (undisclosed) was waived from injured reserve with an injury settlement by the Jaguars on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
Cottrell was waived with an injury designation on Aug. 7, and was reverted to IR the next day after going unclaimed. Now that he's negotiated an injury settlement, he'll be free to seek opportunity elsewhere once he's healthy.

Cottrell was waived with an injury designation Sunday but will remain in the organization after going unclaimed on waivers. While the nature of his injury isn't yet known, he'll be forced to miss the 2022 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the Jaguars.

Cottrell was elevated to the active roster for Sunday's loss to the Jets and ended up as the No. 2 tailback after starter James Robinson suffered a torn Achilles during the first quarter, but he ended up playing only one offensive snap and had one carry for three yards. Dare Ogunbowale dominated the backfield work, and Jacksonville also claimed Mekhi Sargent on waivers Monday. Cottrell is unlikely to be much of a factor for the final two games of the season with Ogunbowale, Sargent and Ryquell Armstead already on the 53-man roster.
