JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Jeff Stubbs came off the bench to score 22 points in just 26 minutes and Jackson State routed poor-shooting Grambling State 77-38 Saturday in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.
Stubbs made 8 of 12 shots, Kelsey Howard added 15 points, and Phillip Williams chipped in 10 for Jackson State (7-16, 6-8), which opened the game on a 22-2 run and led 38-11 at halftime.
Jackson State shot 50 percent (15 of 30) in the first half, compared to 4-of-21 shooting for Grambling State (0-23, 0-14), and improved to 60 percent (15 of 25) after intermission.
Grambling State, which missed all seven 3-point attempts in the first half, shot a porous 35 percent (13 of 37) and made just 10 of 21 free throws. Will Hornsby paced Grambling State with nine points, seven rebounds, and five assists.
Jackson State has won six of its last eight games after starting the season 1-14.
