NEWARK, N.J. (AP) Brian Oliver came off the bench to score 26 points, nailing a career-high eight 3-pointers in leading Seton Hall to a 92-81 victory over Long Island University-Brooklyn on Thursday night at the Prudential Center.

It was the sixth straight victory for Seton Hall (5-3) in its series against LIU (2-5), dating back to 1989.

Oliver, a 6-7 senior, stands third on the Seton Hall list for most 3-pointers made, tied with Jeremy Hazell, who did it twice. All 25 of Oliver's field goals this season have been 3-pointers.

Guard Jason Brickman paced LIU with 19 points and nine assists. Eugene Teague posted a double-double for Seton Hall with 17 points and 16 rebounds. Sterling Gibbs and Brandon Mobley contributed 16 and 14 points, respectively, for Seton Hall.

Seton Hall pulled away to a 20-point lead with a 10-4 run in the second half. Teague scored off a feed from Oliver and Gibbs hit a 3-pointer in the burst. A Mobley dunk and a 3-pointer from the left corner by Oliver capped the run and staked the Pirates to a 71-51 lead with 13:34 to go.

Oliver began his 3-point assault in the first half, nailing five from behind the arc in the final 6:20 of action. His fifth came at the buzzer and handed Seton Hall a 53-36 lead at the break. Oliver had 17 points in the half.

Seton Hall closed the first half with an 11-1 run, including the first two 3-pointers of the season made by Tom Maayan. Seton Hall hit nine 3-pointers in the first half.

Seton Hall was pushed on its heels early when it lost its leading scorer, Fuquan Edwin, to an ankle injury just 1:18 into the game. That's when Oliver entered to replace him. Edwin was battling for a rebound on a missed LIU free throw when he fell to the floor in pain and limped off into the locker room. He did not return.

Edwin, a 6-6 senior, contributed a three-point play in his brief time on the court. He was making his 53rd consecutive start for the Pirates, but that streak is now in jeopardy. On Nov. 22, Seton Hall lost starter Patrik Auda to a foot injury in a game against Oklahoma and he has yet to return.
