LORMAN, Miss. (AP) Maurice Howard set career highs with seven 3-pointers and 23 points, and Alcorn State dominated the final 25 minutes to beat NAIA Rust College 89-50 on Friday night.

Howard finished 7 of 10 from the arc, Yalen Reed added career highs with 20 points and 13 rebounds, and Dante Sterling had 17 points and seven boards.

The Braves (2-7) were tied with the Bearcats at 22 after the first 15 minutes and used a 12-2 run to get their first double-digit lead of the game late in the first half. Alcorn State then used two 8-0 runs to extend the lead early in the second and had a 19-0 run through the middle of the period to pull away for good.

The Braves shot 54 percent (34 of 63) overall and 46 percent (13 of 28) from 3-point range.

Rickey McCollum had 12 points, Cameron Sembly added 11 and DeVante Johnson scored 10 for Rust.
