Draft Prospect Outlook:
Carter was a hidden gem at Duke who took a secondary role behind Marvin Bagley III, but he still put up phenomenal production as a freshman: 13.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. He's a heady player who has excellent court awareness and makes smart decisions when given the opportunity to be a playmaker in the middle of the floor. He's not ultra-athletic, but his 3-point shot is fluid, and he could be a tremendous stretch big man in the NBA.
• Atlanta native picked Duke over Harvard and Georgia after a distinguished prep career including two state titles.
• Also helped USA Basketball to a gold medal at the U-17 World Championships
• Father Wendell Carter Sr. played basketball professionally in the Dominican Republic and mother Kylia Carter played at Mississippi.
