Burgess recorded 25 tackles (17 solo) across 12 games (one start) in 2023.
A 2020 third-round pick, Burgess made just three starts in three seasons with the Rams and mostly continued in backup role for the Commanders this past year. He did record 10 tackles in his lone start, Week 18, albeit as part of a Washington secondary that allowed the Cowboys to throw for 309 yards and four touchdowns. Burgess is scheduled for unrestricted free agency in the offseason.

Commanders' Terrell Burgess: Joins active roster
Washington signed Burgess off of their practice squad to the active roster Tuesday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Burgess was unable to make the team's 53-man roster out of training camp, but he was able to stick around on their practice squad. With the Commanders dealing with multiple injuries in their secondary, the 2020 third-round selection will help bolster the team's depth there.

Burgess was waived by the Commanders on Tuesday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
The 2020 third-round pick out of Utah will not make the Commanders roster after signing with the team on May 30. Burgess also spent time with the Rams and Giants, appearing in 31 games throughout his three-year NFL career. He'll now be forced to look for a new home ahead of the coming season.

Burgess started Sunday's contest at safety in place of Taylor Rapp, who had been ruled out with a rib injury. Burgess was activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
Barring an occasional absence in the secondary, Burgess hasn't been a usual fixture of the Rams' defensive game plan this year. However, Jordan Fuller (illness) still remains in COVID protocols, so if he's unable to be cleared by Sunday, then Burgess is likely to see a rare chance at extended playing time against the Vikings in Week 16.
