Simmons (ankle) has resumed swinging a bat, Maria Torres of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Simmons is recovering from a Grade 3 left ankle sprain sustained May 20 and has apparently seen a significant reduction in swelling. The Angels have yet to offer an official timetable for his return, but the 29-year-old shouldn't be expected to see game action anytime soon.
