Barnes will be part of the Angels' 60-man roster.

Barnes, who is not on the 40-man roster, was given a minor-league deal in January and had been positioning himself for a bullpen spot. His 2019 season was largely a struggle, as he posted a 6.86 ERA before being designated for assignment by Milwaukee in August. He was later claimed by the Royals, but posted a 8.31 ERA in 15 appearances before getting designated for assignment again in November. He did post a 3.54 ERA with Milwaukee across 149 appearances from 2016 to 2018, so he'll need to reclaim some of that level of productivity if he intends to see action at the highest level in 2020.
