Angels manager Joe Maddon said Trout has been "feeling something" in his strained right calf while running recently and will return to Los Angeles on Monday to be evaluated by a doctor, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Maddon described the visit with a doctor as a routine checkup, but Trout hasn't run the past three days after recently ramping up his running program. The skipper also indicated whatever the outfielder is feeling isn't believed to be serious, though it's an obvious concern as he appeared to be closing in on his return from the injured list. Trout was expected to begin a rehab assignment in the near future, but those plans will be put on hold until after the results of Monday's examination are announced.
