Astros acquire minor league pitcher Kyle Smith from Royals

The Astros have acquired minor league pitcher Kyle Smith from the Royals in exchange for outfielder Justin Maxwell, MLB.com reports. Smith, a 20-year-old 4th-round pick in 2011, owns a 2.85 ERA in 19 starts for high Class A Wilmington in the Royals system this year.
