Double-A Midland placed Zhuang on the 7-day injured list Aug. 31 with an undisclosed injury.
Zhuang, who opened the season at Single-A and climbed three levels before finishing the year on the shelf, displayed excellent control this season (3.6 BB%) while being a bit old for his levels (turned 24 in August). He sits in the low-90s with his fastball, but it has decent movement, and he can land his secondary offerings for strikes, which is generally enough to have success in the lower levels. Zhuang built up to 86 innings and could potentially be ready for the majors next summer, but this undisclosed injury clouds his status heading into the offseason.
