Gossett (0-2) allowed two runs on six hits and struck out six over 6.2 innings but took the loss Monday against the Astros.

Gossett's second time out was a significant improvement despite the loss. The rookie served up seven runs (six earned) over just 3.1 innings in his debut on June 14. This, though, was a strong outing against one of the best lineups in the league. Gossett induced 14 swinging strikes and threw 70 strikes over 100 pitches. His one mistake was a Jake Marisnick home run in the fifth inning. Given this performance, he should get another chance to start while Andrew Triggs is on the mend.
