Marte went 1-for-4 with an RBI single in a loss to the Mariners on Monday but is just 2-for-21 (.095) over his last five games.

Although it's only a modest skid, it's nevertheless a rare slump for Marte, who'd been scalding hot at the plate for more than a month after joining the A's back on July 29. The 32-year-old is still carrying an outstanding .318/.359/.451 slash line with 17 extra-base hits, 22 RBI, nine walks, 23 stolen bases, four hit-by-pitches and 30 runs in 46 games with Oakland, however, and given his prior body of work, it's only a matter of time before his bat reignites.
