Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Handed tough loss by O's

Stroman (11-8) took the loss Wednesday against Baltimore after allowing two unearned runs on six hits and three walks while striking out seven over six innings.

Two unearned runs in the first inning led to a tough loss for Stroman, who hasn't found the win column in his last five starts. This marks the second time this season that he's been tagged with a loss despite not giving up an earned run. He worked around a bit of trouble by doing what he does best -- inducing double plays -- and now leads MLB pitchers with 31 groundball double plays on the season. In 30 starts this year, Stroman owns a solid 3.08 ERA but a less-than-stellar 1.31 WHIP over 184.1 innings. The right-hander will look to get on track and snag his first win since mid-August when he toes the rubber for Tuesday's home game against Kansas City.
