Braves' Jarred Kelenic: Loses hold of leadoff gig

Kelenic will start in center field and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Kelenic had occupied the leadoff spot in each of his last 38 starts, and while he supplied a decent amount of pop (.421 slugging percentage) and speed (five stolen bases in six attempts) during that stretch, he got on base at a meager .281 clip and struck out in 27.4 percent of his plate appearances. On Tuesday, manager Brian Snitker told David O'Brien of The Athletic that trade-deadline pickup Jorge Soler would serve as Atlanta's primary leadoff man moving forward, resulting in Kelenic dropping in the batting order. The No. 8 spot isn't ideal from a run-producing or run-scoring standpoint, but Kelenic could still hold some fantasy appeal in deeper leagues if he continues to display the power/speed combo he showcased during his run as the club's leadoff man.
