Atlanta optioned Cruz to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday.
With MLB limiting teams to carrying 13 pitchers on active rosters beginning Monday, Cruz found himself as the odd man out for Atlanta. He'll be replaced on the roster by first baseman/designated hitter Mike Ford. Cruz was effective during his three-week stint with the big club, covering six innings in relief while giving up one run on four hits and two walks.
