Oviedo is part of the player pool that will join the Cardinals for summer camp beginning July 1, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

The hard-throwing righty is one of the particularly intriguing inclusions in the 44-man group that will begin working at Busch Stadium on Wednesday. Oviedo raised expectations to an extent during Grapefruit League play by posting a solid 3.18 ERA and compiling seven strikeouts over 5.2 innings across four appearances. The 22-year-old right-hander may still be much likelier to be part of a non-active roster of up to 30 players that will train off-site once the regular season begins, however, considering he struggled to the tune of a 5.65 ERA and 1.63 WHIP over 113 innings across 23 starts at Double-A Springfield in 2019.
