Gant was traded to the Cardinals on Thursday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

The right-hander was a part of a package with pitcher Chris Ellis and infielder Luke Dykstra that brought left-hander Jaime Garcia to Atlanta. Gant shuttled between the big leagues and the minors but failed to post an ERA below 4.00 at either level. His strikeout numbers with the Braves were nice (8.8 K/9), although his poor control and home run woes will likely leave him in a long relief role going forward in his new organization.
