Thomas is expected to start the team's upcoming summer camp as a primary contender for the starting left field job, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Thomas was considered to be in a tight battle with Tyler O'Neill for the top spot in left when spring training was suspended, as he'd closed the gap with a pair of home runs and five RBI in the four games prior to play being paused. Rogers notes the team "affirmed its intent" to give Thomas and O'Neill the first chance to make their case for the spot once summer camp begins, although elite prospect Dylan Carlson does loom large behind the duo and could certainly be a factor at some point this coming regular season.
