Cardinals' Randy Arozarena: Signs with Cardinals for $1.25 million
Arozarena has agreed to sign with the Cardinals for $1.25 million, Baseball America's Ben Badler reports.
The 21-year-old Cuban has a strong approach and is a plus runner, suggesting he might profile as a leadoff hitter in time. During his last season in Cuba (2014-15) he hit .291/.412/.419 with three home runs and 15 steals (on 21 attempts). It's not clear where he will play defensively, as shortstop, second base and center field all seem like possible options. He could be assigned to Low-A initially, and is at least a couple years away from reaching the big leagues.
