Happ made his first start in the outfield this spring in an exhibition win over Team Japan on Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Happ has primarily played second base, but if he can play some outfield, he could get to the big leagues faster. "Right now, he looks great. He's going to have to go out and play," Cubs manager Joe Maddon said. "He's a Major League player, absolutely. You don't know what's going to happen during the season, you don't know how he's going to react at the beginning of the year." Happ is having a solid spring, with three home runs and a 1.239 OPS.
