Guzman signed a minor league contract with the Cubs on Friday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.

Unable to find an offer from an MLB organization that suited him, Guzman went to play in Japan in 2015. Now 31, Guzman is a .247/.316/.390 career hitter at the major league level (403 games), and posted a .520 OPS with the Astros in 2014. However, he does own a .263/.337/.410 line against left-handed pitching at the highest level.
