Cubs' Spencer Patton: Optioned back to Iowa

Patton was optioned back to Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.

The Cubs brought up Tommy La Stella, who is in Wednesday's lineup, so the move to demote Patton was made to free up a spot on the 25-man roster. Patton made three appearances for the Cubs during this latest big league stint, allowing five hits and two earned runs across five innings.
