Ramirez allowed an unearned run on one hit and one walk while striking out one in a third of an inning to earn the save in Thursday's 8-7 win over the Phillies.
The Diamondbacks entered the ninth inning with an 8-2 lead, but shaky relief pitching and two fielding errors let Philadelphia back in. It was 8-5 with one runner on and two out when Ramirez took the mound. He walked the first batter he faced, followed by a passed ball and a two-run single, but he finally closed out the game with a three-pitch strikeout (all changeups) of Brad Miller. It was Ramirez's first save of the season and second of his career. It's unclear why manager Torey Lovullo eschewed Tyler Clippard for the save chance.
