Ramirez struck out one over a scoreless eighth inning to record the hold in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Pirates.

Ramirez has entered games in the eighth inning in seven of his last eight appearances, including three that ended up as saves for closer Joakim Soria. If the Diamondbacks eventually flip Soria to a contender, presumably the 31-year-old Ramirez would be in line for save opportunities, unless he's dealt as well. Since arriving in Arizona, Ramirez has a 2.77 ERA with six holds over 13 innings.
