McFarland (ankle) could be activated from the 10-day disabled list Saturday when first eligible, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo hasn't mentioned to reporters that he expects McFarland back for Saturday's game against the Padres, but the fact that the left-hander traveled with the team to San Diego is an indication that his bruised left ankle isn't much of a concern. Once activated, McFarland's usage out of the bullpen would mostly be limited to mop-up duty.
