Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Ethier (back) would be activated from the 60-day disabled list Friday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Ethier has been on the DL all season with a herniated disc, but he seems to be reasonably healthy now after having made appearances in 10 games across three minor-league affiliates, going 7-for-32 with six RBI. The 35-year-old has formerly served in the larger portion of a platoon in the corner outfield for the Dodgers, but with the team having recently acquired the lefty-hitting Curtis Granderson to fill that role, Ethier may be limited mostly to pinch-hitting duties in September. Since he's not a lock to be included on the Dodgers' postseason roster, Ethier's days with Los Angeles could be numbered, as the team will more than likely decline his $17.5 million club option for 2018 this offseason.
