Dodgers' Mitchell White: Drafted by Dodgers with 65th overall pick
The Dodgers have selected White with the 65th overall pick in the 2016 first-year player draft.
White had Tommy John surgery after his senior year of high school, and was therefore a draft-eligible as a sophomore out of Santa Clara. After working out of the bullpen last year, he really shined in the rotation this season, posting an 11.54 K/9 thanks to a low-90s fastball that can touch 96 and an upper-80s cutter. He also offers a curveball and a changeup, but his cutter is his top secondary pitch, which it can take the shape of a hard slider. At 6-foot-4, 207 pounds, there is some room for a little more physical projection. There is the potential for a No. 3 or No. 4 starter here in time if everything clicks.
