Puig (hamstring) is scheduled to start a rehab assignment Monday with High-A Rancho Cucamonga and should be ready to return after a week, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports.
A return within a week from Monday would be a quick recovery for Puig, who hit the DL only after the team decided a nagging injury warranted some rest for the struggling right fielder. Puig's return would shift Trayce Thompson from the everyday right fielder role to left field and take away starts from Enrique Hernandez, Howie Kendrick, and Scott Van Slyke.
