Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Week 2: Model that beat experts says start Ketel Marte, bench Charlie Blackmon

If you're setting your Fantasy baseball lineups for Week 2 (April 1-7), or searching the waiver wire for the perfect addition to your team, you need to see the 2019 Fantasy baseball rankings from SportsLine's advanced computer model. When it comes to ranking players, their model beat human experts in Fantasy football last season when there were big differences in ranking. And the model was closest to the hole overall, meaning it best pinpointed where every player would finish each week. Over the course of a season, that could literally be the difference between winning your league or going home empty-handed. Now the model, which simulates every pitch and every at-bat 10,000 times, has its sights set on the MLB season and revealed its optimal Week 2 Fantasy baseball rankings.

One player the model is extremely high on in its 2019 Fantasy baseball rankings for Week 2 : Diamondbacks shortstop Ketel Marte. He got off to a slow start in the first two games of the season, but turned it around at the end of the D'Backs' series against the Dodgers. He had a huge game on Sunday, recording a triple, a run, a pair of RBIs, and a stolen base.

Marte has six games on the MLB schedule this week, three of which are against the Padres, a team that had the 21st-ranked pitching staff in 2018. He's being started in less than half of CBS Sports Leagues and is only the No. 17-ranked shortstop this week, according to market value. But the model says he'll easily finish in the top 10 in Fantasy points at his position, so confidently pick him up and start him this week.

One shocker from the model: It's fading Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon, the fourth-best player at his position according to market value.

Blackmon hit well in the opening series against Miami, but faces an extremely tough schedule from a pitching standpoint this week as the Rockies take on the the Rays and Dodgers, two of the top six staffs in 2018. Blackmon's week includes projected matchups against big-time pitchers like Blake Snell (1.89 ERA in 2018) and Walker Buehler (2.62 ERA in in 2018). The model projects that Blackmon stumbles this week and finishes well outside the top 20. He's a player to consider putting on the bench.

The model is also calling for a surprising first baseman you aren't even thinking about to finish in the top 10 of its 2019 Fantasy baseball rankings for Week 2, and he may be on your waiver wire right now. You can only see who it is at SportsLine.

So who should you sit and start this week?
