Mejia has received a lifetime ban from MLB after testing positive for PEDs for the third time, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Mejia was already going to miss most of 2016 while serving his 162-game suspension following his second positive PED test. Now, the Dominican Republic native joins Pete Rose as the only two living players on the MLB's banned list. The right-handed reliever posted a 3.68 ERA over his five-year MLB career. At the age of 26, he still has his prime years ahead of him, but it will be one year year before he can apply for reinstatement, and another year beyond that before he has even a remote shot to pitch for an MLB team again.
