Justin Morneau deserves more Fantasy playing time

On Thursday's edition of Fantasy Baseball Today, Scott White and I debated over which first baseman is more valuable in Fantasy: Brandon Moss or Justin Morneau. Scott took the side that most Fantasy owners would likely take, if activation rates in CBSSports.com leagues are any indication. Moss is currently started in 97 percent of our leagues, while my preferred first baseman, Morneau, is starting in just 88 percent of leagues.

Moss is outperforming Morneau to date, but not by much, and I have my doubts about whether he can maintain his batting average as well as the overall stats he has accrued in limited at-bats against lefties. Meanwhile, Morneau is not only benefitting from a power boost from playing home games at Coors Field, but he is enjoying a return to the higher contact rates from earlier in his career, which is helping his move to a more aggressive approach to result in more production.

Check out our most recent Player Debates segment to hear what Scott and I have to say about these first basemen, along with a few other players over whom we disagree in our rankings.
