Mariners' Cade Marlowe: Optioned to Triple-A

Marlowe (oblique) was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday.

Marlowe is on Seattle's 40-man roster but entered spring a long shot at best to claim an Opening Day roster spot. His mild right oblique strain has officially taken him out of contention. In 133 games across the two highest levels of the minors last season, Marlowe hit .289 with 23 home runs and 42 stolen bases, though just 13 of those games came at the Triple-A level.
