Mariners' Felix Hernandez: Will rejoin big club for Friday start

Hernandez (shoulder) will be activated from the 10-day disabled list ahead of his scheduled start Friday against the Astros, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

It wasn't known for certain if Hernandez would return to the rotation during the upcoming week heading into his third rehab start at Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday, but the right-hander erased any doubts about his health by tossing six shutout innings and striking out eight batters. With Hernandez reporting no issues with his shoulder upon meeting with the Mariners on Sunday, manager Scott Servais confirmed that the former Cy Young winner would make his next turn with the big club. It's not immediately clear who will lose out on a rotation spot now that Hernandez is healthy, but Christian Bergman, Yovani Gallardo and Sam Gaviglio would seemingly be most vulnerable. In addition, Hisashi Iwakuma (shoulder) is also in line to return from the DL to start next weekend, so it's likely that two of those aforementioned pitchers will be pushed out of the rotation by next week.
