Mazur was traded from the Padres to the Marlins on Tuesday along with Robby Snelling, Graham Pauley and Jay Beshears in exchange for Tanner Scott and Bryan Hoeing, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Mazur's minor-league body of work was pretty stellar (2.37 FIP at Double-A in 2024, 3.01 FIP at Double-A in 2023) before he reached the Pacific Coast League and the majors this season. In five Triple-A starts, Mazur has a 7.83 ERA and 1.48 WHIP, which is similar to his 7.49 ERA and 1.81 WHIP in eight big-league starts. He will likely head to Triple-A Jacksonville for the time being, but Mazur should get plenty of chances to carve out a spot in Miami's rotation in the coming years.
