Steckenrider was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans on Monday.

Steckenrider was sent back to New Orleans to clear room for Justin Nicolino (finger), who was activated from the disabled list and is scheduled to start Monday night against the Nationals. The 26-year-old didn't impress much in his second stint with the Marlins this season, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks over 2.1 innings (three appearances) out of the bullpen. He'll await his next call-up as he looks to build on his already impressive resume with the Baby Cakes this season (1.65 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 33 strikeouts in 27.1 innings).
