Alfaro signed a one-year, $2.05 million contract with the Marlins on Friday to avoid arbitration, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.

The 27-year-old took a step back last season but is now officially under contract with Miami for 2021. Alfaro had a .624 OPS and 36 percent strikeout rate in 100 plate appearances last season and will battle Chad Wallach for the starting job behind the plate in spring training.
