Diaz will start at first base and bat sixth Monday against the Nationals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

The lefty-hitting Diaz took a seat in Sunday's 5-3 loss to Atlanta with a southpaw (Max Fried) on the mound for the opposition, but the 24-year-old rookie will be back in action for the series opener in Washington. Since being recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville on Sept. 8, Diaz has gone 3-for-17 with a triple and a run. Expect him to serve as Miami's primary first baseman while Jesus Aguilar (knee) is on the injured list.
