The Marlins recalled Diaz from Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, David Wilson of the Miami Herald reports.

He'll move up to the big club as a replacement for first baseman/outfielder Garrett Cooper, who was placed on the 10-day injured list with a lumbar strain. Diaz will likely serve mainly as a left-handed bat off the bench, as he's limited defensively to first base and isn't a threat to Jesus Aguilar's standing atop the depth chart at the position.
