Matt Davidson can't hit the broad side of a barn

Once again, this week's Prospects Report is full of great information. Scott White gives you the breakdown on Phillies third baseman Maikel Franco, whose promotion to the majors seems imminent. I provide updates on Giants prospect Kyle Crick and Reds prospect Michael Lorenzen, while also featuring a player that's name is going to give me plenty of problems when he makes it to the majors -- Padres prospect Odrisamer Despaigne (pronounced O-DREE-SA-MEHR DES-PAWN-NYAY).

However, one player not featured in this week's column is White Sox third baseman Matt Davidson. You remember him, right? He was traded to Chicago in the offseason in exachange for Addison Reed and was competing for the starting third base job this spring before being demoted to Triple-A Charlotte.

Well, if you haven't heard anything about Davidson since his demotion, don't be surprised. Davidson hasn't provided many highlights this season, as he's batting .183 with 64 strikeouts through 45 games. He has six home runs and 16 RBI.

Obviously, the White Sox won't bring Davidson to the majors until he puts together a hot streak. But the team seems to be getting good production at third base from Conor Gillaspie and Marcus Semien, so there's no urgency to promote Davidson. At this point, he might not even be worth stashing in AL-only seasonal formats because he's been pretty bad through two months.
