Rivera has been added to the Mets' 60-man player pool, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

The veteran backstop had been competing with Tomas Nido for the No. 2 job back in spring training, but Rivera will now be one of at least five catchers in the team's player pool. How much playing time the 36-year-old actually gets will likely depend on how often starter Wilson Ramos is deployed at DH or otherwise gets a breather behind the plate in the condensed season.
