Nationals' A.J. Cole: Drops suspension appeal
Cole dropped his appeal of a five-game suspension Saturday, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.
Cole's suspension will include the final two games of the regular season and the first three games of the 2017 season. It won't carry over to the playoffs, should the right-hander make the Nationals roster. Since Joe Ross rejoined the club in September, Cole has served as a fifth starter for the Nationals, but with most teams opting for four-man rotations in the playoffs, Cole would likely settle into a bullpen role if he's included on Washington's NLDS roster.
