Romero will be part of the Nationals' 60-man player pool, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports.

The 24-year-old southpaw has only thrown 47.1 professional innings since being drafted in 2017 due to injury and disciplinary issues, but Romero is healthy now and the Nats don't want him to lose any further developmental time. If he can get his career back on track, he could eventually emerge as a mid-rotation arm.
