Nationals' Tanner Roark: Allows seven runs to Pirates

Roark (3-2) surrendered seven runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out three batters over five innings during Thursday's loss to Pittsburgh.

Roark has now pitched poorly in consecutive outings with 11 runs allowed through 9.2 innings. His 4.73 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 7.4 K/9 are underwhelming marks, and after posting a 2.83 ERA and 3.79 FIP last year, Roark is clearly struggling to outperform his underlying statistics this season. Still, pitching for a contender helps his fantasy floor, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Roark bounce back. It just might be wise to only utilize him in favorable matchups until he irons out the kinks on the mound. He has a home start against the Mariners on deck.
