Orioles' Francisco Pena: Outrighted to Triple-A

Pena cleared waivers and was assigned to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday, Rick Dubroff of PressBoxonline.com reports.

The Orioles dropped Pena from the 40-man roster last week when the team had a greater need for an extra reliever than a third catcher. Despite his removal from the roster, Pena still looks like the No. 3 catcher in the organization and would likely be first in line for a promotion to the big leagues if Welington Castillo or Caleb Joseph were to require a stint on the disabled list.
